Design Work

Design Work

Before my days at the Card Factory, I worked at Design Ranch, a boutique design company in Kansas City, Missouri. At the Ranch, I had several amazing opportunities to work on multiple branding projects and collateral materials for brands like Lee Jeans, Target, Helzberg Diamonds, H&R Block and many local businesses.

We were a small and mighty team, and my time there was basically Design Bootcamp. It was some of the most challenging work I’ve been a part of, but the collaboration and bonds made in the tiny basement with my pal, Tad Carpenter, were the best. I worked hard, learned hard and earned all my designer merit badges. The “OMG-the-sewer-drain-is-backing-up-on-our-computers,” and the “I-Super77ed-my-eyelashes-shut,” and “The-client-is-always-right-even-when-they-are-very-wrong” badges hold a very special place in my heart.

All projects below were collaborative with Designer Tad Carpenter and Art Directors Michelle Sonderegger and Ingrid Sidie.

Lee Dungarees

This brochure designed for Lee Jeans’ Dungarees brand is oversized, 11"x14" inches, and uses a mixture of vellum and uncoated paper to create a great ghosting effect for all the type and layers of elements.

Lee Jeans X-Line

Lee Jeans X-Line was a line of heritage, limited-edition jeans. They were created with high quality, hand-dyed denim and cut in trend-forward styles. Each book was designed to be a mashup of the playful Dick and Jane series and the iconic Golden Books series. The books have thick cardboard covers and gold foil spines.

Nara Restaurant

Not your typical Japanese restaurant, Nara is a hybrid sushi and noodle spot in the heart of the Crossroads District in Kansas City, Missouri. Since Nara is housed in a historic building with modern renovations, the design needed to reflect old-style Asian influences with a new twist.

Target Mossimo Tags

These are spec concepts done for Target's Mossimo brand. We were asked to re-imagine the look for the former clothing brand with a tag system that could be collectible and unexpected. I used a mix of materials like screen printed pulp board, rubber bands and printed wood paper.
